Next race meeting : 18 May 2008........Club Championship - Summer 2008 Round 3 *

Welcome !
Welcome to the Aldershot Model Car Club (AMCC) website. The Club is dedicated to racing radio controlled model cars and bikes at our purpose built tarmac track. The track is located at Badshot Lea (map) on the border of Hampshire and Surrey between Aldershot and Farnham.

The cars and bikes we race are either electric (battery) powered or IC (Nitro) powered. We hold regular club meetings (race calendar) normally twice a month throughout the year. You do not have to be an expert to race at these meetings. Just bring along your car and introduce yourself to one of the committee and we will help you through your first meeting.

To get you started take a look at the guide to racing page. You will need some essential equipment to get you started (spare batteries, charger etc.). If in doubt just email us using the contact us form or post your question on the forum. We also have a tea-hut open during meetings selling hot food and drinks at very reasonable prices.

A unique feature of the club is that the track is availbe for you to use for practise 7 days a week (except on race days of course). All we ask is that you become a club member before using the track for practise. This helps us to meet the cost of maintaing the track. Non-members are however very welcome to race at club meetings. This can be a good way to give racing a try before committing to joining the club.

Please browse around the site as there's much more information about the club, what the track looks like, membership fees, race fees etc.

Happy racing !

Important Club Notices
  • *New* The caravan rally scheduled for the 9th-11th May has been cancelled. The track is therefore avialable for practise.

  • *New* Due to the first scheduled Summer championship round being rained-off all the rounds have been renamed. So Round 2 (20th April) is now renamed as Round 1. The championship will now consist of 10 rounds instead of the planned 11. The meeting calendar has been updated accordingly.

  • New race fees introduced from 20th April onwards. Members only pay £5 (juniors £3) and you can race a second class absolutely FREE ! (subject to there being enough space in the meeting)

  • It was announced a few weeks ago that we were going to be changing the padlocks on the gates to ones operated by high security keys. This has now been done. As a result, in order to access the track for practising you will now need to obtain a key. The procedures for doing this (including details of the refundable deposit) can be found on the Track page of the website.

  • The dates the Tea Hut will be closed have changed. It WILL now be open on 20th April and the 6th July meetings. So the revised closed dates are :- 18th May, 17th August and 21st September.

  • Please do NOT arrive at the track before 7:45am for club meetings
BRCA Electric National (26-27th April)
Update : 4th May - Full results now posted on this website (see results page)

The club has just hosted the the first round of the BRCA Electric championship. This was a 2-day event with practise starting on Satuday morning and the first 3 rounds of qualifying run in the afternoon. Sunday morning saw the start of the remaining 2 rounds of qualifying. Unfortunately soon after the start the weather turned bad when a series of thunderstorms passed by followed by persistent heavy rain. Racing had to be suspended briefly for safety reasons due to the lightening. Eventually the weather improved and the start of the 3 series of finals were mainly run on a drying track.

All in all everyone seemed to have an enjoyable meeting despite the weather on Sunday morning. We would like to congratulate everyone who competed and thank them for making the meeting a success.

Special thanks go to the committee and members of the Aldershot club who sacrificed their spare time over the weekend to help run the meeting. These were ....

Mark Sellars (who did a brilliant job to get the track ready), Dave Skelton, Nigel Moss, Nick Adams, Mick Barnes, Steve Mills, Les Mainwaring, Thomas Francis, Emily Hall, Robin Francis, Graham Pilgram and Michael Pilgram. Also thanks to Debs and her parents who manned the tea hut and who did an excellent job feeding the hungry masses.

I would just like to add a personal thank you to Mick, Emily, Graham, Robin and Michael who together with myself collectively scrutineered over 1000 cars over the 2 days !

New class : Tamiya Stock
Club and Track News A number of drivers have come up with the idea of running a new class here at Aldershot. This will run pretty much to Tamiya Eurocup Stock class rules. The Tamiya Stock class will therefore use the TT-01 chassis (although some other chassis will be allowed - see below), a Tamiya Sports Tuned motor, Tamiya Electronic Speedo and a Tamiya Bodyshell. The idea is to keep the class simple, low cost and above all FUN !. There are even ready to run Tamiya cars available based on the TT-01 chassis that include a radio. This will hopefully encourage beginners to give racing a go. However, we need you, the members, to help us. Please spread the word about this class. Further details will appear on the Racing Classes page once everything is sorted out. In the meantime see the discussion on the club's forum where Remo, Nigel and Kevin have been discussing the class. On there you'll also find a list Nigel has put together listing all the cars that can be used (including non TT-01 cars).
